Meta-Cookbook
What is meta about a cookbook? It is a book with instructions on how to learn to cook. Not necessarily what to cook. This ‘book’ is not about recipes. It is about the why.
It contains a number of basic aspects of cooking, such as certain techniques and background knowledge to understand what you are doing. The recipes that the reader wants to learn to cook depend mainly on the reader.
There are a number of universal aspects to cooking:
- For example, there are universal ingredients, such as eggs.
- Cooking is life and death, and cooking is a form of alchemy.
- There are many different ‘cuisines’, but it is French cuisine that is the most developed.
- Then there is global inspiration, to which Chinese cuisine in particular has contributed a great deal, such as noodles and pasta.
- Cooking also has a clear link to health. The first cookbooks were written by doctors.
Ultimately, it’s mainly about cooking, the doing, and not so much about the knowledge of cooking.
What does AI have to do with cooking?
Imagine that absolutely everything people do could be done by AI and/or a robot. Even brushing your teeth. Imagine…
Would you let everything be done for you and not do anything yourself anymore?
After thinking about it for a long time, I came to the conclusion that that would be a shame. I wouldn’t want to clean or do the laundry myself anymore. I would still do some tidying up, but not everything. But I would definitely want to continue doing things like cooking myself.
And there are many more things where it’s not just about getting something done mechanically, but where inspiration plays a role. How superficial would it be to have AI write a love letter? The whole point is that the message comes from your heart, or mine. The same goes for food.
It’s no coincidence that the way to a man’s or woman’s heart is through their stomach. The attention, the touch, all with love. Nutritious, healthy, and delicious.
