Puberty is a process that nature guides you through, whether you want it to or not. Growing up and standing on your own two feet is a semi-voluntary process. The process of spiritual awakening is entirely voluntary. There will certainly be moments when life wants to push you in that direction, but until now, few have taken this step. That’s not surprising, because it was much more difficult then than it is today.

Spiritual awakening is a prerequisite for living a meaningful life. In Dutch, it is also referred to as ‘zingeving’ (giving meaning). The meaning of life can be found and at the same time given to life.
Wayne Dyer spoke about the importance of recognizing your spiritual nature or the “purpose of the soul” above the desires of the ego. This means understanding that you are more than your physical body or your achievements. You are a spiritual being having a human experience.

Men who are materially successful and have already experienced “everything” that life has to offer are particularly likely to be confronted with this question at some point. ‘Is this all there is?‘ The answer to this question is ‘NO!’. To find out what else there is, it is necessary to make what Wayne Dyer calls ‘The Shift’. A shift from the ego to the soul.
For women, it is traditionally known as empty nest syndrome. This often occurs when the children still live at home but are already more independent.

Another indication of the importance of spiritual maturity is the high divorce rate. Because it is easier to divorce, both financially and socially, many couples reach a point where they decide to separate.
This seems to be a sign that two lovers remain “stuck” in an ego-driven bond. It may also be that one of the two is seeking growth (spiritual) and the other does not want to go along with it.
If both partners in a relationship decide to grow together, the relationship will enter a whole new phase and bring more than could have been imagined beforehand. The partners then become each other’s mirror, each other’s conscience, and a source of inspiration and motivation.
Another reason to awaken spiritually is the positive influence it has on raising children.
Healing trauma and wounds in particular prevents them from being passed on to the next generation.
Living life as a spiritual being makes it easier for the next generation to make this transition themselves.
